They tend to capture one-off ideas which demonstrate an interesting concept or capability but have **not** been taken all the way (or, often, even close) to production quality. They are **not** examples that can be taken off the shelf and used for high-quality research - think of each notebook like a whiteboard drawing, not a white paper.
