- Jacob Larson opened the meeting up by welcoming everyone and led the background on CDS
- Michael Schnuerle gave an update on the latest announcements including a call for nominations to join the CDS Curb Working Group Steering Committee, a request to fill out the latest “State of MDS” public user survey, and an update on the 1.0.1 patch release
- Michelle Kinman from the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) led a presentation on their mission to create a green economy for greater LA region and beyond
- Created a unique model for piloting and scaling startup innovation w/ cities
- Developed an innovative sandbox with the goal to de-risk scaling of technologies
- The Transportation Electrification Partnership goals informed each of the LACI pilots)
- LACI has created a NEW ZE delivery city challenge
- Multi-city effort designed to accelerate electrification of delivery transportation system
- Leverages the collective power of cities to accelerate change

- Michael S – is MDS used to understand the movement of vehicles?
- A) slowly ramping up, what additional can we do to make an impact? Need to understand what cities are already doing and then LACI can find ways to help these existing efforts
- Jacob M – how do data standards come into these conversations?
- A) working with DOE, UFL – experts help LACI understand policy. Bringing together collective muscle to have cohesive mechanism
- Brian H – How does procurement work in the sandbox environment?
- A) The CEO of LACI comes from city government and is familiar with the challenges. Developed a procurement “hack”. Partnered with Santa Monica to deploy a variety of tech. LACI handled procurement to help facilitate an accelerated timeline. Non-profits can help move things faster in pilot mode. Once tech is proven, city can do larger RFPs
