  • 00:23:24 Olivier Audet-AMD Montreal: Great job @Sam Brenner | City of Boston. Will you include curb Objects in your DB

  • 00:24:34 Alex Demisch (SFMTA): @Sam Brenner | City of Boston I think you mentioned that you didn't have a table for Curb Zones, is that right? Is that ultimately a view and/or how are they otherwise sourced and stored? Sorry, I missed an important point!

  • 00:25:00 Sam Brenner | City of Boston: Replying to "Great job @Sam Brenn..."

  • Yes! We think that will be really useful for people in our curb management platform. We also think we’ll probably end up adding objects to our public maps.

  • 00:25:04 Aylene McCallum - OMF: I really like this visual

  • 00:25:15 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Reacted to "Yes! We think that ..." with 🔥

  • 00:27:36 Sam Brenner | City of Boston: Replying to "@Sam Brenner | City ..."

  • Yup - it’s a view. Otherwise the data is split between zone, policy, and time span.

  • 00:28:12 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Seattle and Brian’s team is a recipient of a Stage 1 SMART Grant and is part of the first OMF Curb Collaborative. They also received a Stage 2 Grant in partnership with Minneapolis to scale their curb digitization work.

  • 00:28:13 Alex Demisch (SFMTA): Reacted to "Yup - it’s a view. ..." with 👍

  • 00:28:20 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "Seattle and Brian’s ..." with 👍

  • 00:28:37 Aylene McCallum - OMF: I'm curious if our workflow presenters (particularly from agencies) built these slides from scratch - or, put in another way - how much of these workflows were already built, indicating that you have already needed to explain these workflows internally? And if so, what type of roles were you presenting these workflows to?

  • 00:30:37 Kenya Wheeler, San Francisco MTA (he/him): Reacted to "I'm curious if our w…" with 👍

  • 00:32:18 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Replying to "Seattle and Brian’s ..."

  • More on Seattle’s project https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/projects-and-programs/programs/parking-program/seattle-smart-grant-digital-commercial-vehicle-permit-project

  • 00:32:39 Lisa Hood - San Jose DOT: Reacted to "I'm curious if our w..." with 💡

  • 00:33:35 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Reacted to Seattle and Brian’s ... with "👍"

  • 00:38:14 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Replying to "I'm curious if our w..."

  • Microsoft Visio! I'm very much a visual person so diagram tools are the best way for me to think through and communicate these types of flows

  • 00:38:29 David Von Stroh (Parametrix): Reacted to "Microsoft Visio! I'm..." with 👍

  • 00:38:30 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Reacted to I'm curious if our w... with "👍"

  • 00:38:32 Varun Bhargava: Varun here, Data@populus/IPS; Does the definition of the curb zone shape vary between Seattle/Boston/Montreal and what typically informs that choice?

  • 00:39:58 Aylene McCallum - OMF: Replying to "I'm curious if our w..."

  • Ah! Thank you - my question was more about WHO you were building these visuals for - like do you use these slides to explain how these work to executive city staff or partners or ??

  • 00:40:14 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Replying to "Varun here, Data@pop..."

  • In Seattle's our "Zones" are kind of a hybrid between what CDS defines as Zones and Spaces (just because the legacy way our data is set up). For simplicity, when we translate our space geometry into CDS we call everything a CDS "Zone" (instead of spaces and zones)

  • 00:40:20 Kenya Wheeler, San Francisco MTA (he/him): Reacted to "Microsoft Visio! I'm…" with 👍

  • 00:41:00 Varun Bhargava: Reacted to "In Seattle's our "Zo..." with 👍🏽

  • 00:42:37 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Replying to "I'm curious if our w..."

  • @Aylene McCallum - OMF Got it! We actually didn't have very many accurate diagrams when I started (a lot of cooks in the kitchen with their individual efforts kept in their head or maybe written roughly on a word doc). I've been making a big effort to document how our current system works today (from big picture level) so we have more confidence to actually update the system

  • 00:43:43 Aylene McCallum - OMF: Reacted to "@Aylene McCallum - O..." with 👍🏻

  • 00:43:57 Varun Bhargava: Replying to "Varun here, Data@pop..."

  • Thanks, yes that resonates. I’ve created versions of these before and I am curious if there are initiatives/ repos to consolidate and make robust the geospatial transformations.

  • 00:44:51 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "@Aylene McCallum - O..." with 👍🏻

  • 00:47:36 Sam Brenner | City of Boston: Replying to "I'm curious if our w..."

  • These slides were built a while ago in Miro when we were designing the system and figuring out what procurement would look like. I hadn’t opened it in many months.

  • I use another slide when sharing with transportation folks or execs that shows a simpler pipeline, but it highlights which functions occur in the Asset Management System and what will happen in CurbIQ.

  • 00:48:57 Aylene McCallum - OMF: Reacted to "These slides were bu..." with 👍🏻

  • 00:49:56 Sam Brenner | City of Boston: Replying to "Varun here, Data@pop..."

  • We’ve tried to keep our zones to the CDS spec; but we know they are not very accurate right now

  • 00:50:08 Olivier Audet-AMD Montreal: Replying to "Varun here, Data@pop..."

  • For now we use Zone and will be including Place for paid by place parking

  • 00:56:17 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): LADOT and Minneapolis are also members of the SMART Curb Collaborative. More info on the Collaborative and their projects found here https://www.openmobilityfoundation.org/smart-curb-collaborative/

  • 00:56:45 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: We use Accela for our ROW permitting. We have a connection from Accela to our Asset Mgmt system to track available/reserved parking spaces

  • 00:58:16 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Wonderfully positioned slide by INRIX! This shows how much work is contained in just a singular box from our rudimentary flow.

  • 00:58:35 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Reacted to "Wonderfully position..." with 😮

  • 00:58:38 Michael Schnuerle (OMF): Reacted to "Wonderfully position..." with 👍

  • 00:59:13 Michael Schnuerle (OMF): Bring your final questions to the chat if you have them!

  • 00:59:13 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "LADOT and Minneapoli..." with 👍

  • 00:59:21 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "We use Accela for ou..." with 👍

  • 00:59:43 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Replying to "We use Accela for ou..."

  • @Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT remind me which asset management system vendor SDOT uses?

  • 01:00:08 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Replying to "We use Accela for ou..."

  • INFOR (hexagon)

  • 01:00:40 Christopher Shelley | City of Philadelphia: We at Philly are prototyping a whole other (related) spec because we are crazy people. Stay tuned.

  • 01:00:52 Sam Brenner | City of Boston: We know our system will ultimately succeed or fail with depending on the accuracy of our asset data. Ours is not accurate to put it mildly. Would love to chat more if anyone has thoughts about how to keep them up to date.

  • 01:01:12 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Replying to "We use Accela for ou..."

  • Thanks. We have a call soon with OpenGov (formerlly Cartograph) to learn more

  • 01:02:00 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Reacted to We use Accela for ou... with "👍"

  • 01:03:22 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Or rogue property owners with a paint roller driving the local policy. 😅

  • 01:03:41 Michael Schnuerle (OMF): Reacted to "Or rogue property ow..." with 🫣

  • 01:03:43 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Reacted to "We know our system w..." with 👍🏻

  • 01:03:50 Sarah Gallagher | Seattle DOT: Reacted to "Or rogue property ow..." with 🎨

  • 01:04:09 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Reacted to Or rogue property ow... with "🫣"

  • 01:04:39 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Replying to "Or rogue property ow..."

  • Is that why you see the special SFMTA branding painted on the curb as well? Does that attempt to note an “official” painted curb?

  • 01:05:02 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "Is that why you see ..." with 👍

  • 01:05:37 Kenya Wheeler, San Francisco MTA (he/him): Yes, adding the SFMTA logo branding is how we verify that curbs are both "official" and "active"

  • 01:06:28 Brian Hamlin | Seattle DOT: Thanks all!

  • 01:06:35 Andrew Glass Hastings (OMF): Reacted to "Yes, adding the SFMT..." with 👍

  • 01:06:52 David Von Stroh (Parametrix): wonderful session and great presentations everyone!

  • 01:06:53 Jerad Weiner (San Francisco Public Works): Reacted to "Yes, adding the SFMT..." with ❤️

  • 01:07:02 John Lundstrom (City of Minneapolis): Thank you all!

  • 01:07:04 Kenya Wheeler, San Francisco MTA (he/him): Thanks everyone!

  • 01:07:06 Gonzalo Martinez Santos (CurbIQ - Arcadis): Thanks everyone!

  • 01:07:15 Olivier Audet-AMD Montreal: Thanks all!
