Solart

Solart is a Windows Forms application for calculating solar energy efficiency and related parameters, such as:

  • Number of daylight hours
  • Solar azimuth angle
  • Sunset hour angle
  • And more

Purpose

This tool was developed as part of the PHYS471-Solar Energy course during my senior year in the Physics Department. It was used to perform calculations for a term project titled:

Photovoltaic System Application for Eskişehir’s Light Rail Transporting System (EsTram)

The project was also submitted for the European Solar Prize 2015.

Features

  • Calculate key solar parameters for energy efficiency analysis
  • User-friendly Windows Forms interface
  • Based on equations from the book:
    • Solar Engineering of Thermal Processes
    • Author(s): John A. Duffie, William A. Beckman

Technologies Used

  • C#
  • Windows Forms
