CRU-TS 4.06 high resolution gridded dataset (1910-2021). It's blocked by

...but works with v0.9.0. Requires os.environ['CEDA_USERNAME'] and os.environ['CEDA_PASSWORD'] to be set!

I am not sure, if the encoding works correct. For example, data that was originally integer (like stn which is number of stations) results in float64. float32 data that has frequency units results in float64, too. Original units of ground frost frequency frs was days, now it's nanoseconds:

@larsbuntemeyer apologies for the lag time in engaging on this PR. Looks like the question you have above relates to internals of zarr encoding, and may require some upstream investigation in zarr and/or xarray.

For the moment, I'll see if we're able to get to the same place you were in your notebook, by running a test of this recipe on Pangeo Forge Cloud.
