Nit: is the period type being cuda nanoseconds really accurate?

I think so? Its just the value we get from subtracting end from start from the activity record. https://docs.nvidia.com/cupti/api/structCUpti__ActivityKernel4.html#_CPPv4N21CUpti_ActivityKernel45startE
