Fixes ##1198.

Add Comprehensive Unit Tests for OTEL Traces Flattening

Primary Objective

Add extensive unit test coverage to validate and document the specialized flattening behavior for OpenTelemetry traces data in Parseable's log analytics platform.

Key Deliverables

  • Complete test coverage for all flattening functions.
  • Validation of data sanity across flattening operations.
  • Ensuring nested data structure flattening.

TL;DR: Added basic unit tests for a good variety of flattening operations in traces.rs.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Added comprehensive unit tests to validate the correctness and completeness of OpenTelemetry trace data flattening, including mapping, encoding, and field presence checks.

Walkthrough

A new test module was added under a conditional compilation flag in src/otel/traces.rs. This module introduces multiple unit tests to validate the flattening logic for OpenTelemetry trace data structures, ensuring correct mapping, encoding, and completeness of the flattened output.

Poem

In the warren of code, where traces run deep,
A bunny wrote tests, no secrets to keep.
Flattening spans, events, and links with care,
Ensuring each field is always there.
Now with each hop, the data is right—
Debugging is easy, and bugs take flight! 🐇
