  • Add mouseover to NDC text with more context

For the sake of having a test version ready soon, let's leave those two extra points aside for now. The text can be checked and changed later on quite easily.

  • Adjust info in FAQs
  • Check text with Michel den Elzen

Feedback from Michel:
"I would suggest including a note in brackets stating that this highly depends on the uncertain past LULUCF emissions."

  • Add tooltip after reduction/increase "This highly depends on the uncertain past LULUCF emissions and can differ from what is displayed in the graph"

Since we need a running version to show to colleagues and check data and text, this is good enough for that. If text needs to be adjusted later on, we can easily do that.

  • Percentages and NDC graph data -> inventory.
  • And refer in tooltips to About page.
  • Change about page.

@MarkMDekker what do you think? This is now on all country pages except for EU countries

Maybe slightly rephrase: "Deriving reduction numbers from NDC targets requires a comparison with historic emissions, which involves uncertain estimates and different accounting mechanisms of land use emissions. This number is purely based on country inventory data, and may therefore be different from what is displayed in the graph."

@chantalwuer it is the non-Jones inventory data, right? (the reduction number) If so, and you adjust the text as I mentioned above, there is only one thing left: the FAQ.

Under "What NDC data is shown?" we should slightly rephrase: which is based on historical data from PRIMAP and includes additional insights from land use emissions accounting models. Because we analyze all greenhouse gas emissions including land use, we also convert NDC data to that level.

@MarkMDekker It is GHG_ndc_red in the ES code which you confirmed is inventory data #89 (comment)

@MarkMDekker I tried to rephrase slightly to make it easier to understand and a bit shorter:

"To calculate reduction numbers from NDC targets, country inventory data are compared to historic emissions, which are affected by uncertainties and varying land use accounting methods. These numbers may therefore differ from those shown in the graph."

Does that still have the same meaning as you intended?

Yes, that's fine, but I'd like to mention explicitly that these numbers are based on country inventory data. Beyond that, this is fine and it can be merged. @chantalwuer
