Module structure:

Session 1: Introduction to Web Development

  • Introduction to Accessibility,
  • Introduction to HTML,
  • Introduction to CSS,
  • Simple website structure with HTML and CSS,
  • Introduction to online code editors such as the MIMIC platform and CodePen,

Session 2: Introduction to JavaScript

  • what is JavaScript and when to use it,
  • variables, data types, operators, conditional statements, loops, functions,
  • JavaScript and Accessibility.

Session 3: JavaScript and the Document Object Model (DOM)

  • recap on the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript,
  • How HTML, CSS and JavaScript work together.
  • Accessible styling, formatting and interaction.
  • Adding simple dynamic elements to the website.
  • DOM and Accessibility.

Session 4: Accessible Web Design & Development

  • Accessibility design and development practices
  • Accessibility tools and documentation
  • Accessibility and customisation in website development.
