This project can be used to count the total number of visitors who came while you are out of your home. As the visitor presses the doorbell button the counter inside the circuit increments by "+1" counting the total number of visitors.
The 4026 is a high-speed CMOS IC. It is a decade counter and 7-segment decoder. It is very useful for the applications of counting and displaying in real-time top the 7-segment in decimal value.
One of the most versatile linear integrated circuits is the 555 timer. The 555 is a monolithic timing circuit that can produce accurate and highly stable time delays or oscillations. The timer basically operates in one of the two modes:
- As a Monostable (one-shot) Multivibrator or
- As an Astable ( free-running ) Multivibrator.
The below figure shows the connection diagram of the 4026 IC for the project. This is a standard circuit used for the connection in counting and displaying mode.
As the pulse comes in the trigger input of the IC when the doorbell switch is pressed, the IC counts and increments its previous value by one, and simultaneously it directly displays the value. The reset button is used for resetting the count value to "0" again.
