Maybe try upgrading to fontconfig 2.14.1 or 2.15.0 while we are at it? The current ubuntu stable is on 2.15.0 https://packages.ubuntu.com/noble/fontconfig |

Yeah, let's bump to 2.15.0. There's also a 2.16.0 but that looks pretty new, I don't even think the active development version of Ubuntu has that yet. |
