ROS Desktop Image

• Q: Wayland or X11? (wayland or perhaps wayland with X11 support)
• Should we align to known desktops like XFCE? (or LxQt for minimal footprint)

@robwoolley I have tinkered with this a little bit lately on AMD-Xilinx platforms, see #1655 for some of the issues i have encountered. We have standardized our graphics stack on wayland/weston. I was able to run rqt after fixing some recipes. I also tried rviz and that didn't work on wayland for me; I had to enable xwayland and the weston xwayland backend. I'm seeing some visual artifacts on my hw platform when using xwayland but that could be specific to our gpu integration (I'm still investigating). But in principle, rviz does work with xwayland/weston. Just wanted to share my experience and data points here and I'm by no means a graphics expert.
