Personal Audio System Design

This repository documents a deliberately structured personal audio ecosystem designed to separate truth, work, and enjoyment, rather than forcing one system to do everything.

The goal is not maximum fidelity everywhere, but minimum cognitive load while preserving musical integrity.

Core Philosophy

  • Each component has one primary function
  • No overlap between systems
  • No comparison spiral
  • No “upgrade ladder” anxiety
  • Music-first, nervous-system-safe design

System Overview

1. Headphone Reference Chain

Function: Truth / focus / decision-making

  • Sennheiser HD600
Reference headphone for mixing, calibration, and critical listening
  • Topping D10s
    Transparent DAC with no coloration
  • Schiit Magni Heretic
Clean headphone amplification and gain control

Design intent:
Precision without drama.

2. Studio Monitoring System

Function: Work / translation / reality checks

  • Genelec 8030C — modern reference accuracy, neutrality, and imaging
  • Yamaha NS-10M — midrange discipline and truth
  • KRK 8s — low-end feel and contemporary context

Design intent:
Expose problems early and ensure mixes translate everywhere.

3. Home Listening System

Function: Music as music / enjoyment / regulation

  • WiiM Amp Ultra
All-in-one streamer, DAC, preamp, and power amp
Wi-Fi lossless streaming, phone-as-remote UX, HDMI ARC support
  • KEF Corelli
    Coherence, imaging, and spatial immersion
    HD600-like clarity in speaker form
  • PSB Image B4
Ease, warmth, and zero-fatigue long-session listening
  • Subwoofer:
None initially (small space, studio apartment). Optional later only if weight (not loudness) is missing and space permits.

Design intent:
Purely for listening and enjoyment.
