- clearly podman is vastly superior these days
- unfortunately, this doesn't work on a network filesystem, so I will be deleting this entirely

- this makes initial page load massively better
Why? because though clever this was SOOOOO frickin' hard to work with, think about, etc., and also it's too slow/confusing. We learned that from users, etc. instead, we'll use mutagen.

- this approach sucks; I'm likely going to delete it and start over
- not really done, but better than before
- this is just one of many that are missing - they are tricky to get right - if any one is missed things could lock forever
