.mignore not being used

Describe the bug
.mignore containing "node_modules" is not being used.

To Reproduce
.mignore containing "node_modules" on one line in the root of the dropbox folder.

Expected behaviour
Restarted maestral. restarted computer. Still downloading node-modules folders from dropbox.com

System:
Macos Sequoia 15.2 on Macbook M3 Max 14"

Additional context
Do I need to reindex or something? What am i missing?

This works for me:

**/node_modules

[slifty]

node_modules (with no slash) works for me as well.
