This is pretty cool @itissid! Thanks for submitting it. I just glanced over the diff and this is exactly what we need, and I think it's fine adding requests. I looked at adding streaming support to http.client but it might be overkill.

I'm going to be out a few days, but I'll take a deeper look next week and I'll update you. Thanks again!
