Summary of Changes
Hello @feeblefakie, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request is an automated backport to the 3.14 branch, primarily focused on enabling the Gradle build cache. It also includes an update to the Gradle wrapper version and minor adjustments to the Gradle wrapper scripts (gradlew and gradlew.bat) to align with the updated Gradle version and execution methods.
Highlights
- Gradle Build Cache Activation: The Gradle build cache is explicitly enabled by adding org.gradle.caching=true to gradle.properties.
- Gradle Version Upgrade: The Gradle wrapper distribution is updated from version 8.7 to 8.14.3.
- Gradle Wrapper Script Refinements: The gradlew and gradlew.bat scripts have been updated to include SPDX license identifiers and adjust the method of executing the Gradle wrapper JAR, moving from a classpath-based approach to a direct JAR execution.

Code Review
This pull request aims to enable the Gradle build cache and upgrade the Gradle version. The changes in the Gradle wrapper scripts (gradlew and gradlew.bat) and the new gradle.properties file are generally correct. However, there is a critical issue with the Gradle version specified in gradle/wrapper/gradle-wrapper.properties, which will likely cause build failures.

The Gradle version 8.14.3 specified here does not appear to be a valid Gradle release. This will likely cause the build to fail with a 404 Not Found error when attempting to download the Gradle distribution. The original pull request (#2967) that this is a backport of used version 8.8. Please update this to a valid and existing Gradle version.
