🛰️ Welcome to IO.Astrodynamics
IO.Astrodynamics is an open-source initiative dedicated to extend, modernizing and simplifying the use of NASA's SPICE toolkit for space mission analysis and orbital mechanics. By providing a high-level, object-oriented interface in .NET, we empower developers, researchers, and mission designers to focus on what they want to achieve, not how they must implement it.
🚀 Why this project matters
Space mission design involves immense technical complexity. SPICE is the gold standard, but its low-level API can be a barrier. IO.Astrodynamics bridges this gap with:
✔️ High-level abstractions for trajectory and attitude analysis
✔️ Built-in support for impulsive maneuvers, perturbation models, and ephemeris tools
✔️ Scenario export to Cosmographia and PDS archive generation
✔️ CLI and .NET APIs for productivity, cross-platform usage, and integration
We also contribute to ESA-supported R&D efforts and international space safety programs, providing real-time astrodynamics capabilities for synthetic vision, pose estimation, and tracking.
🤝 Why sponsor us?
Sponsoring IO.Astrodynamics means supporting the accessibility and reliability of space mission tools. With your help, we can:
Maintain and evolve the framework for both academic and industrial use
Expand educational resources and documentation
Provide better support for newcomers and contributors
Accelerate our roadmap for edge computing and onboard space usage
If you believe open-source has a place in space, we invite you to sponsor our work, and be part of a growing community reshaping astrodynamics.
Reaching $200/month will allow continued open-source development, pay software licence, infrastructure maintenance, and new feature releases for IO.Astrodynamics, a framework bridging C++ performance and .NET productivity for mission analysis, simulation, and education. Every contribution helps make space software more open, modern, and accessible. 🚀
