I love creating Open Source Software under the GPL3 because I know that if someone else finds my work useful, they can actually make use of it without worry, and if needed, can modify the code to fit whatever other needs may arise.
Sponsoring a project is a good way to ensure it is maintained and continually developed.
As of this writing, I have 2 GPL 3 Python programs I am working on.
Kootnet Network Testers: Test network latency and thruput
This program is used to test the Latency and Thruput of a network connection between 2 devices. Originally made for the Raspberry Pi 3/4 to create mobile network testers, it can now be installed on other Operating systems to utilize more advanced networking hardware. Future development will go towards new types of network tests such as NMAP, additional mobile hardware support and other future features.
Kootnet Sensors: Monitor, record and visualize sensor data
Made to monitor Environmental data on Raspberry Pi's over short and long time periods to understand relations between different environmental readings, like how heat correlates with pressure. As of this writing, it supports 12 different sensor types over 16 hardware sensors. It is primarily accessed through an HTTPS web portal running on the local sensor. From the portal, you can set different settings in areas like interval recording, online reporting, installed hardware and network configurations. You can also create interactive graphs based on saved data and selected timeframes. There are many use cases for recording multiple sensors over time, such as Environmental Monitoring, keeping track of heat usage at home or simply digitally visualizing the world around you.
