We could also do a rebase of helm-operator-plugins and take the pause-reconcile support from there. Is there anything preventing that?

Only the fact that it's more risky (dep bumps, other changes), let's do it after 4.10 is cut.

How about we do it in two steps, first like this, and then also try do the rebase in time for 4.9? (so we don't risk having CVE affected dependencies in the release)
