This is a serious jump, 1.82.0 is from Oct 17th 2024.
We can lower it a bit (1.77 seems feasible at least), but I wonder if it matters much (guessing that projects either are up to date, or follow far behind the latest release).
My position is that we may as well bump somewhat aggressively while we're making a breaking change.

IMO y'all are well within your rights to do this and it seems reasonable to me as well. (I've been known to have spicier-than-average takes on MSRV in the past however...)

e.g. flate2 (which is roughly equivalent to this crate) has a policy of just 3 releases (though in practice much older version probably work because development is not that rapid over there).
Anyway, neat. We'll probably release this tomorrow.
