Just inquiring if this has been noticed, and if any changes are wanted. ;-) There really were significant issues due to the changes in the AWS EMR 4 interface, versus the old interface. IMO updating the instructions would help reduce confusion. There is also a PR with equivalent changes for the directory_rename branch. |

There are collective recommendations from the current session of the Communicating Data Science Results course. The main change is for the new version of the EMR web interface, which affects the web forms, monitoring ports, terminology, provisioning choices, etc. This also includes suggested changes to the instructions to avoid some problems that students encountered, such as selecting the same region as the data and turning off logging. A section on memory tuning is also added.
(Similar changes are available for the directory_rename branch, but that has to be in a separate pull request.)
