Evidence and Research Needed
The Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AG) has identified requirements where we need additional research or evidence to include the requirement WCAG 3.
The types of research or evidence we are looking for includes:
- Academic Research
- User Studies such as interviews, surveys, usability studies, etc.
- Requirements for Assistive Technology (AT) to better support people with disabilities or better work with user agents.
Research or evidence must provide transparent information on the methodology used and results. We prefer information that we can publicly reference.
Sometimes research may have been conducted but we haven't been able to locate it. Sometimes new research is needed.
Research Questions
- What color combinations (and at what font sizes) best support reading on modern digital displays, particularly for users with visual and cognitive disabilities?
- What color combinations best support distinguishing between elements on modern digital displays, particularly for users with visual disabilities?
- Based on proven color combinations, what existing or possible algorithms support people with visual and cognitive disabilities?
Research Questions
- What line spacing best supports reading and comprehension for people with visual or cognitive disabiliites in non-Roman alphabets (particularly vertical written languages)?
Research Questions
- What support is needed for voice input users beyond existing standards?
WCAG3 is a project of the W3C Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AGWG). Research and prototyping was done by the Silver Task Force. Archival and additional material for this project can be found on the Silver wiki and the Silver Github wiki.
This Wiki page is edited by participants of the Accessibility Guidelines Working Group. It does not necessarily represent consensus and it may have incorrect information or information that is not supported by other Working Group participants, WAI, or W3C. It may also have some very useful information.
