Hi, I'm Ben 👋

I came to software the long way around...

What I'm building and exploring

  • 🤖 Otto — an AI-development framework that layers GitHub's spec-kit with curated skill libraries into a nine-stage, gated software lifecycle (FRAME → SHIP → MAINTAIN), with both hands-on and fully autonomous build modes
  • 🏠 Homelab — Proxmox, self-hosted everything, and local open-weight LLM inference on a cluster built from salvaged hardware
  • 🔧 Hardware salvage — my working doctrine is that e-waste is not actually waste
  • 📚 Engineering self-study — working through a merged curriculum of MIT OpenCourseWare engineering degrees (Aero, ChemE, EECS, MechE), with an emphasis on hands-on projects

A note on activity

Most of my day-to-day work lives in private client repositories and on-prem instances, so the contribution graph here tells you very little. Ask me about what I'm shipping instead!
