EDForceFeedbackXinput v1.0.0

Elite Dangerous force feedback and rumble support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers.

EDForceFeedbackXinput reads Elite Dangerous's Journal and Status.json and triggers rumble (gamepads) or force effects (DirectInput joysticks) for events like hardpoints, landing gear, docking, and more.

Highlights

  • Xbox controllers: Xbox One, Elite 1/2, Series X/S (wired, Bluetooth, or wireless adapter with workaround)
  • PlayStation controllers: DualSense, DualShock 4 via GameInput or XInput emulation (DS4Windows, DualSenseX, Steam Input)
  • DirectInput joysticks: Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, Saitek Cyborg 3D Force Stick
  • No special drivers needed; uses GameInput, raw HID, or XInput
  • Settings Editor for per-event rumble strength, duration, and pulse
  • TestForceFeedback to test rumble without running Elite

Downloads

  • EDForceFeedback – Main app (run with Elite Dangerous)
  • TestForceFeedback – Rumble test harness (run without Elite)

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11, 64-bit
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • Microsoft GameInput runtime (install redist\GameInputRedist.msi if rumble does not work)
  • For Xbox Wireless Adapter: see README for the ReWASD + HidHide workaround

Installation

  1. Download and extract the zip.
  2. Run EDForceFeedback.exe or TestForceFeedback.exe.
  3. Run redist\GameInputRedist.msi if rumble is not detected.
  4. Start Elite Dangerous and keep EDForceFeedback running.
  5. See the README for configuration, connection notes, and troubleshooting.

This fork is based on EDForceFeedback by Bob (CMDR Axe_), with Xbox and PlayStation controller rumble support added.
