  • Manual Check for Updates remains available from the app menu for user-initiated status checks.

Quick Summary

  • Automatic-update-only installer behavior for installed builds
  • Existing browser features remain in place

System Requirements

  • Windows 11
  • x64 architecture
  • 4 GB RAM minimum
  • Around 300 MB free disk space

Upgrading From A Previous Version

If an older version is already installed, remove it before running the new installer when you are doing a manual upgrade:

  1. Close BubblesTheDev Web Browser.
  2. Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  3. Find BubblesTheDev Web Browser.
  4. Click the ... menu, then choose Uninstall.
  5. When prompted, choose which local data categories should be removed or kept.
  6. After uninstall finishes, run BubblesTheDev Web Browser_Installer_1.0.30.exe.

If you use the built-in update flow, the browser can still download and launch the newer installer for you.

Diagnostics And Support

If the browser crashes or a tab fails, export a diagnostics report from:

Tools > Export Diagnostics Report

Send the exported report to:

browser-support@bubbles-browser.fnbubbles420.org

SmartScreen Note

This build is currently unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen may warn before launch.

If prompted:

  1. Click More Info
  2. Click Run Anyway

Code signing is planned for a later release.

Notes

  • No telemetry or analytics services are configured.
  • Diagnostics are stored locally, encrypted on export, and are not uploaded automatically.
  • The Music Player scans only a local folder chosen by the user, and only after explicit consent.
  • Bubbles Search Engine may contact DuckDuckGo and Google endpoints when the user performs a search from bubbles://home.
  • Uninstall can remove browser profile data, saved passwords, diagnostics reports, and local update preferences independently.
  • If the browser is installed to an external drive instead of C:, install-linked browser data can follow that location and be moved to the external drive automatically.
  • Releases and installers are published through the GitHub releases page.
