This project documents real operational tasks performed in a Systems Administrator capacity, focusing on the provisioning, management and cost optimisation of Azure-based infrastructure and storage resources.
The objective was to deploy secure virtual machines, implement structured cloud resource organisation and maintain cost-effective storage solutions.
As part of ongoing IT operations, the following actions were completed:
- Provisioned a Windows Server 2022 virtual machine (VM) using secure, cost-optimised settings on Microsoft Azure.
- Configured Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access for secure remote management of the VM.
- Implemented resource tagging to classify assets by environment and ownership for improved organisation and billing transparency.
- Created an Azure Storage Account and a private Blob Container to securely store and manage cloud-based files.
- Uploaded data to Blob Storage to manage backup and storage operations.
- Practised cost control by deallocating inactive virtual machines and systematically cleaning up resources to prevent unnecessary charges.
- Successfully deployed and managed Azure compute and storage infrastructure.
- Enhanced resource governance through consistent tagging practices.
- Improved cloud cost-efficiency by applying deallocation and resource group management strategies.
- Strengthened Azure administration experience aligned with IT operational requirements.
