This article covers the rules of participating in races on racetime.gg
- You need to first create an account on racetime, and you need to connect your twitch account. Streaming is required to join in the raceroom, however you may always choose to async the race on your own.
- Go to Channels & Roles channel and react to add the roles you would like. Season 3 is for official tournaments and the weekly races. S3 racing is for pick up or friendly races that anyone may offer and join. This will allow you to be pinged when people are proposing a race
- Make sure you are familiar with the rules of the race you want to do:
- When someone proposes a race that you want to join, you will see them post a raceroom. Click the link, and then hit the join button.
- The patch file, also called a lanky(ends in .lanky), will be posted, typically 15 minutes before the start of the race. You take that to the website (dk64randomizer.com for 3.0 [normal race settings], dev.dk64randomizer.com for dev settings) and use the patch file to generate your playable rom, adding your own music and cosmetics.
We also have a racetime bot that will post the link to the seed, in place of a .lanky file. It will be posted directly in this channel, so you can click the link, and it will take you to the website. You must wait for it to say "Download seed" and then hit that button.
- Go live and make sure the hash matches what is posted in the channel, or in the raceroom title (if using the bot)
- When you have everything ready, and racetime detects you are live, you then hit the ready button.
- Once everyone is ready, the race starts! There is a 15 second countdown before it starts
- Good luck and have fun in the race!
- When you are finished, make sure to hit the done button in the raceroom.
- If you want to discuss the race, go to race-spoilers channel, and find the race you just completed! Each race has their own post, and you can add your comments to the race post!
- If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, we are happy to answer questions.
