📡 Dashboard: LOC (Drone Locator)

Lost your quad in tall grass, a cornfield, or thick brush? The LOC tab is a dedicated directional tracking tool that turns your radio into a Geiger-counter to guide you right to the crash site using your receiver's telemetry signal.

(Note: Navigate to the LOC tab and press [ENTER] to activate the tracker).

Acoustic & Haptic Tracking

As you physically move with your radio, RCIC analyzes the signal updates:

  • Geiger-Counter Audio: The radio emits dynamic acoustic beeps. As the signal improves (meaning you are walking in the right direction), the interval between beeps shrinks, speeding up just like a metal detector.
  • Haptic Feedback: If tracking in a noisy environment, enable the Haptic option in the Configuration Tool. Your controller will pulse with physical vibrations synchronized to the tracking beeps.

Visual Interface & Peak Hold

RCIC v4.0 features a completely overhauled visual tracking system that automatically adapts to your protocol:

  • Smart Normalization: Whether you use ELRS (which reads in negative dBm, down to -115) or standard FrSky RSSI (0-100), RCIC mathematically normalizes the raw signal into a clean 0% to 100% percentage for easy reading.
  • Raw Data: The screen still displays the raw dBm signal and the transmit power (mW) for advanced users.
  • Peak Hold Marker: A segmented bar graph fills up as you approach the model. The interface leaves a small vertical "Peak Mark" at the highest percentage achieved, helping you realize immediately if you have turned the wrong way and the signal is dropping.

Pro-Tips for Directional Tracking

  1. Disable Dynamic Power: For the locator to work accurately, you must disable "Dynamic Power" on your TX module (especially crucial for ExpressLRS). A fixed output power provides a steady, reliable signal gradient to track.
  2. The "Body Block" Technique: Radio waves are absorbed by the human body. Hold your radio close to your chest and slowly turn around in a circle. When the signal drops significantly, your body is blocking the receiver—meaning the drone is directly behind you!
