Rangefinder

David Vogel edited this page Sep 22, 2021 · 3 revisions

A rangefinder defines a device that can do distance measurements of point pairs.

Ideally this would be done with a laser rangefinder, but any other device that can measure distances can be used too. If you use multiple different devices on a site, add a "Rangefinder" for each and set their accuracy parameters accordingly. The accuracy parameter influences how much the measurements are weighted when the scene is optimized. All measurements of a rangefinder use the same accuracy setting.

Parameters

  • Name: The name of the rangefinder.
  • Accuracy: Accuracy in meters. This defines how much the optimizer weights the measurements done by this device.

Tips

  • When measuring a corner of a room from the inside use the "maximum" function of your rangefinder and search for the largest distance to that corner.
  • When measuring an outside corner of some object use the "minimum" function of your rangefinder to find the closest distance.
