Plugin usage guide

Note: Since you're using Playnite under Wine, which is not officially supported, you might encounter unexpected issues. If you do, please DON'T just blindly report them to the official Playnite (or related plugin) issue tracker. Check if the problem occurs on the Windows version first.

The plugin is designed to fix certain issues caused by running Playnite under Wine, mainly related to library integrations and game launching. It aims to restore the original Windows experience as much as possible. It will not fix any issues with the Playnite UI itself.

Features

Playnite installation

You need to have Playnite running inside a Wine prefix. Here are some general tips on setting this up:

  • use Wine 9 or above, don't use Proton/ProtonGE
  • use winetricks to install corefonts dotnet48 win10 inside the target prefix,
  • after the app is installed, enable the following option: Settings > Advanced > Disable hardware acceleration
  • alternatively, you can try using a virtual desktop if you want to keep the hardware acceleration. The UI should be less glitchy than when you're not using it.
  • don't use gamemoderun and similar tools.

You can use this Lutris installation script (specifically the one with the "Latest version") for a semi-automatic setup.

Install any library extensions you want to use with Playnite. Install this plugin from the official Playnite extension repository.
