FrameCut v0.3 – The Performance Update

🚀 Overview

FrameCut v0.3 is a major milestone focusing on extreme performance, workflow automation, and rock-solid reliability. This release is designed to be standalone and portable—perfect for new setups.

🔊 Major Upgrade Note:
FrameCut v0.2 had no audio recording support.
v0.3 introduces a fully integrated audio pipeline with backup, sync fixes, and reliability improvements.

✨ What's New in v0.3

⚡ High-Performance Recording Engine

  • FFmpeg Live Piping: Moved away from slow file-writing methods to a real-time FFmpeg pipe, significantly reducing CPU overhead.
  • Hardware Acceleration (NVENC / QSV / AMF): Full support for NVIDIA, Intel, and AMD hardware encoding with automatic GPU detection.
  • 10× Buffer Capacity: Increased frame buffer to 600 frames, providing a massive safety net for system performance spikes.

🤖 Workflow Automation

  • Auto Folder Opening: FrameCut automatically opens the output folder and highlights your new recording as soon as it's saved.
  • Standalone Mode: The app now looks for ffmpeg.exe in its own folder—no system PATH configuration required.

🛡️ Reliability & Stats

  • Audio Recording (New in v0.3):
Audio capture is now fully supported. This feature did not exist in v0.2.
  • Audio Preservation: If video processing fails, FrameCut automatically saves a raw audio backup (.wav).
  • Pro-Grade Logging: Integrated logging system (framecut.log) to track recording stats and encoder health.

🛠️ Bug Fixes

  • Eliminated Frame Drops: Fixed critical frame loss issues in high-bitrate recordings.
  • Fixed Audio Sync: Modernized synchronization logic to prevent drift in longer recordings.
  • Memory Leak Patch: Refactored audio streaming to eliminate memory growth over time.
  • UI Responsiveness: Buttons now clearly show Recording, Finalizing, and Processing states.

📦 How to Use (No Install Required)

  1. Download: FrameCut.exe.
  2. Select Area: Drag to select a specific window or screen region.
  3. Record: Hit start and capture your content (video + audio).
  4. Done: FrameCut finalizes the recording and automatically opens the output folder.

🔒 Security & Transparency

  • No Obfuscation: Built with pure Python and full transparency.
  • Local-Only Processing: No data ever leaves your machine.
  • Portable: No registry edits or administrator privileges required.
