Agenda

  • Updates
  • GSoC update
  • Ticket discussion
  • Highlights -
    • Funding session -
      • It's always hard. Follow the money -- who are the people who use it who have money. We really don't have this at this time.
      • Maybe we partner with Universities and give us a support package.
      • Suggested Goal - 3000 a month - can 2-4 per month for 1 day a week.

Tickets to discuss

ContiniousObservables: https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/pull/2851

  • PR that proposes a continuous observable over time -- so you can sample at any point in time.
  • Allows for threshold detection.
  • Build on Mesa signals -- first thing that really uses it.
  • Time discussion came up again -- 2228 -- where time needs to be in a central place like model.time to have a universal truth. For now, it does not block it, but there is a workaround. If this goes into stable (from experimental).
  • Jan Kwakkel has commented.
  • Tom Pike will be second reviewer.

Non-linear rate functions: https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/discussions/2854

  • associated with 2851 -- maybe it goes in that one or a separate one.
  • This is an interesting read -- linear is easy, but non-linear is.
  • Needs additional review.

ActionSpace https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/discussions/2858

  • Right now we have hard coded rules in the agent.
  • This would restrict the space that the agent can exist -- eg how much influence can an agent have.
  • Would like to have more input on this.
  • jackiekazil (Jackie Kazil) and Colin Frisch will review.

GSoC Contributor guideline for GSoC

  • Written by Colin Frisch -- This would be very useful for GSoC contributors.
  • jackiekazil (Jackie Kazil) and Tom Pike will review.

Next Mesa Meeting: Nov. 11, 2025

  • GSoC - Start thinking about ideas for next year
  • Old tickets for clean up -- continue please!
