Ticket reviews

Deprecating stdlib random https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/issues/2884

  • Update related to random generator; b/c Python's stdlib random uses Mersenne Twister
  • There is a scientific python standard. Jan Kwakkel is working to make Mesa compliant.
  • General agreement around support.

ReadtheDocs Section Navigation https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/issues/2879

  • Jan Kwakkel fixed the immediate problem, but this is still relevant discussion. Right now, some of our stuff is non-sensical organization.
  • What are people trying to do here? Proposed Goals
    1. Trying to get up and running?
    2. People building more complex models and API docs? Understand extendable parts of of the ecosystem?
    3. Building out the community -- much like agent blocks and GSoC -- how do we continue to build the Mesa community?
  • Next steps: Comment on the proposed update in 2879

Location class https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa/pull/2875

  • Jan Kwakkel is proposing -- Everyone interested should review/follow

Approaches to get Mesa funded

  • Ewout & Jan Kwakkel had a discussion.
  • About 30-40 Universities are using Mesa.
  • Can we get universities to support $5,000 Euros to $10,000 Euros per year?
  • Not sure if this happens in the U.S. well-- because it might not fix into funding box.
  • What would Mesa offer to the Universities? -- A paid steering council?
  • Let's set this up as a focus group.
  • JK & Ewout & Tom & Jan
  • jackiekazil (Jackie Kazil) will add to google calendar

Project Mesa --> Mesa Discussion

  • Do we want to do it?
  • We need to decide HOW we make big decisions. Then we need to decide this.
  • Ewout Ewout is going to post a discussion related to this for collective input.
  • We discuss, possibly vote during next meeting 11/25/2025; depending on where the discussion goes & what we agree on for "how we make big decisions".
