Found by lintr::outer_negation_linter()

IMO it's always easier to reason about the code written in this way; moreover, the performance benefits are basically unlimited since any()/all() can exit immediately without needing to ! every element.

Also fix a parse error in an eval=FALSE vignette chunk.
