In Markdown, you need to use a double-line-break to mark the next paragraph. However, for the poems we need to break even earlier as a line is not considered a paragraph (a verse is). Adding two spaces to the end of the line forces a line-break which is not a paragraph break.

I thought it might be better if poems were in markdown format, because then we could also add formatting like italics and
codeto the poems. I've converted the existing poems to markdown here (and added one of my own 😃 ).
