Consoles and Emulators: Analogue3D

This article covers how to run DK64 Randomizer on the Analogue3D, a hardware emulator

Supported Flash Carts

Everdrive X5/X7

DK64 Randomizer via Analogue3D is confirmed to work with both the Everdrive X5 and X7. Just simply drop the ROM into its SD card and load it as normal. We recommend that any players looking to play on the Analogue3D purchase one of these or a Summercart. Make sure to use OS Version 3.10.

If your Everdrive X5 or X7 is from before November 26, 2025 then you will need to not only update its firmware to 3.10 but you will also need an original Nintendo 64 console to install the newest bootloader onto your Everdrive in order for the 3D to properly recognize the cart. If you have bought one after that date then your Everdrive will already have the correct bootloader and firmware and no additional changes are needed.

Simply format your SD card then extract the contents of the downloaded folder to your SD card to install the OS.

Summercart

DK64 Randomizer also works with Summercart. Similar to an Everdrive, put your DK64 Randomizer ROM on an SD card and put the SD card into the Summercart.

Unsupported Flash Carts

Other Everdrive versions

Versions prior to X5 might work, but your mileage may vary, and may require some extra hoops to jump through.

Other clone flash drives

The Analogue3D is notoriously picky with how it handles flash carts at this time. As such, even if your flash cart works fine on the Nintendo 64, it might have various issues (both with loading and running games) on the Analogue3D.

Firmware requirements

Make sure you are on the latest Analogue 3D firmware.

Performance and Graphical Fidelity settings

These aren't required changes for DK64 Randomizer. These are only recommendations based on improving gameplay quality from other players.

To access the settings to change how Donkey Kong 64 Randomizer looks visually as well as how it performs, you will need to hit the Configure button on the 3D OS with the flash cart highlighted. From there, you may customize how you'd like DK64 to look visually (there's no wrong choices here as the display mode options don't impact how the game performs in any way). Do note that some of the display mode settings may cause minor overscan issues depending on your setup and what you are changing. Overscan refers to some parts of the image being cut off (usually the corners). Just something to be aware of when tweaking the display settings of the 3D.

For performance settings you will want to head over to Hardware on that same Configure menu pulled up. Turn Force Original Hardware off (it is on by default) and this will allow you to adjust the Overclocking settings. For the best performance with DK64 Randomizer, Unleashed Overclocking is perfectly acceptable with no known bugs or issues. You cannot change this setting while you are playing the game.
