Ships/Multitools/Freighters/Frigates/Pets

The second biggest feature of DNA.
You will eventually reach a point where you have a nice collection of upgraded ships but no more room to collect more. Instead of saving your ship in JSON format, noting down the seed and stripping the ship of upgrades, etc, I give you the option to put the entire ship in storage instead.
Once you select an unregistered ship you will have the option to register it. All it takes to register a ship is an image, the name, and the colours your ship has. Once completed you’ll be rewarded with a trading card that represents the data of your ship.

You can add more information such as the location you have found it, the galactic coordinates, system information and more. But this is entirely optional and up to you.

Once you have your card, and have the ship selected, press ‘transfer’ to transfer it to your hangar and save your changes.
Your ship, its entire tech inventory, cargo inventory, and other information such as custom colours will be saved as is in a database on your local system.
Now you have a new slot available on your save file to continue your collection.
The hangar is shared through all platforms and saves meaning you can transfer your ships from one save to another in an instant.

This entire process can be done for multitools, freighters, frigates and pets as well.

Freighters are a bit special.

In the case of freighters, since you can only have one, if you would like to collect more you’ll have to store it in the hangar and play the game without a freighter so that you have the option to buy a new one. Since the game works in strange ways, your freighter base is actually not stored in your save as a freighter but as a player base. Meaning that if you stored your freighter in the hangar using DNA and buy a new one in game, you’ll be presented with the option to transfer your existing freighter base even though you technically don’t have one. Always click yes in this menu if you want to keep your base. Once you completed your purchase you’ll notice that your entire freighter base will have transferred to the one you have just purchased.

Unnamed Objects

The game auto generates the names of ships, multitools, etc… using the seed of the object itself. There is currently no way of knowing that information from reading just the save file. (Or at least that I know of)
In order to make the registry process easier for yourself, I suggest renaming the object while in the game. Simply make a small edit, like replacing a letter or deleting/adding back a character, and save that name. This tricks the game in thinking you have set a custom name and as a result will save that information in your save file.
This can then be read by DNA and will be displayed in the UI.
