As an alternative to cheating in items, store fronts allow you to trade items for items or other currencies. As a secondary purpose these stores aim to solve a couple of problems. First would be to become a unit sink as the game showers you in them. Second would be to give items, such as Tainted Metal, an actual purpose instead of the useless items they are now.
To start with there are the following core stores:
Note: The maximum trade amount of store offers is calculated according to how much items/currency you have in your inventory/bank.
Since the app allows the collection of freighters, it creates a demand for freighter upgrades.
There are only a few ways to get them, one of which is to do an abandoned freighter run. These can net you a good amount of Tainted Metal and a random upgrade at the end of the run.
In order to balance the problem caused by DNA, DeSter trades Tainted Metal in exchange for any upgrade you’d like. Eliminating the random aspect of the run and more then double the amount of upgrades received.
The store also exchanges Rusted Metal in exchange for Tainted Metal. This is an alternative for those who rather base build or do other stuff without dedicating time to farm these runs. Just find yourself an abandoned/lost world and setup a mine there.
Profit!
While you can exchange food items for nanites at the Anomaly, the results can vary and aren’t based on the amount of work a player has put into a food item.
An example would be the difference between a ‘Spikey Tart’ and ‘Iced Scream’.
The first takes five crafting steps to complete while the latter only 1 step. But both of them give you the same amount of nanites.
(In fact, Iced Screams give you slightly more on average.)
This, combined with the dialog windows needed to turn in an item, doesn’t make it a worthwhile venture to earn nanites.
That’s where SanctuaryMeals comes into play.
SanctuaryMeals will buy every food item you have and offer a price that is determined by taking the price of the item and its crafting steps into account. This in the hopes of making cooking a worthwhile option to earn nanites.
Astromining’s purpose is therefore simple. Provide an option to buy substances at a high mark-up for use in various construction projects. Becoming a unit sink as well as an option for base builders to keep on building.
It also provides an avenue to make more units by selling raw materials to them instead of the in-game vendors.
