INTRODUCTION

What is a production plan?

A production plan is a set of deadlines for tasks according to a major objective, a way to separate a big project into small tasks that are trackable and easy to analyse. Production plans are usually built around the idea of a _Sprint_, a short period of time (days/weeks) to accomplish a major objective, that is a little part of the end result.

Why we use production plans?

The main purpose of production plans is organisation, as a big objective is really difficult to quantify and start. The separation of tasks guarantees all work is done and everyone is working, which helps documentation and deadline predictions.

Production plan maintenance

For a production plan to work correctly, it needs to be updated to match the team objectives and workflow. The task manager will be the person who monitors the project workers in order to modify the production plan and to check that all tasks are progressing correctly. This information also helps designing sprints and future production plans besides having knowledge of the co-workers eficiency and understanding.

OUR PRODUCTION PLAN

Tools

From the different Kanban and Scrum free tools we chose HacknPlan, as it is specialy useful for videogame organisation. HacknPlan image couldn't load.

Sprints

We will have 4 major sprints:

Design

(21/02/2022 -> 13/03/2022)
In this sprint, the main objective is to set the full project, designing everything we need to start programming so the development never stops. Design sprint image couldn't load.

Vertical Slice

(13/03/2022 -> 17/04/2022)
The vertical slice is the first playable demo of the game, we will do the principal mechanics and playable things. Vertical Slice sprint image couldn't load.

Alpha

(17/04/2022 -> 15/05/2022)
The alpha is the first full gameplay, without many details but the needed ones to play.

Gold

(15/05/2022 -> 9/06/2022)
Gold is the final product, the final release. Everything needs to be playable, detailed, and bug-free.

Production plan tracking

To track that all tasks are being done, we will have weekly meetings on Saturdays. In this meeting there will be other thinks to talk about appart from the production plan, so the task tracking needs to be fast and the workers feedback on deadlines needs to be handled after this meeting.

Production plan updating

In order to have a correct workflow, the production plan has to be updated periodically, as all projects have risks to be longer developments because of problems during it. The main problems that cause the production plan to change are design changes and updates, bugs and errors, time managment problems and early deadlines. These things need to be handled by the task manager to talk with the design team and to change tasks from one sprint to another.
