📌 Summary

This is the main feature branch for the work needed to:

create a working integral flow that connects the design tokens pipeline (updated to support $modes) to the CSS for the HDS components (updated to generate multiple CSS files in input, including themed tokens where needed) to the showcase (updated to support theme switching and the theming of HDS components for the their migration to the Carbon visual language, aka "carbonization")
the dry-run migration of a selection of HDS foundational elements and components
follow-up activities (engineering only)
the actual migration of the HDS foundations and components

On the HDS Engineering sync we have decided that, to avoid painful conflicts with main, we would squash all the commits and cherry pick some of the changes in this branch as standalone PRs, so they will be easier to review, and we decrease the surface area of this (already large) PR. I have done another mega squash of the branch, to simplify the process of rebasing all the derived branches, now that the symbol-js icons have been cherry picked to main, and with other changes introduced in main.
