Barnacle shells have a chance of being gathered from Shelly sand by either using a shovel on, or directly digging, the block.
Barnacle shells can be used to craft coquina.
Barnacle shells can be used in an anvil to repair heavy boots, restoring 25% of the total durability while preserving the enchantments.
Barnacle shells can be used to brew a potion of descent from an awkward potion.
