Attendees: John Kunze, Ricc Ferrante, Mark Phillips
Goals:
Discussion items:
| Item | Who | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Announcements | J. Bailey has stepped down. As discussion in this group continues, how we handle this vacancy should become more clear. M. Kalfatovic wants to become active again as IIIF-C rep. General agreement this would be a good addition. jk and Donny Winston gave the ARK tutorial to 23 people at Open Repositories last week; Donny at PIDFest this week | |
| Any news items we should blog about? Any calls for papers, submission deadlines, upcoming meetings we should note? | See Calendar of Events (https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/ARKs/Calendar+of+events) Submitted ARK Tutorial proposal to DCMI conference | |
| Updates from Groups: Technical NAAN Outreach | Outreach WG John Jung has curated the youtube channel so new recording of tutorial (30 mins) at youtube shows up as default: youtube.com/watch?v=-RkMGFCGRic Blog posts in progress - Frick (Jack O'Malley) - WACREN (Sefakor Ankora) - Web archiving (Lesley Frew) - Bodleian (Andy Irving) rf: from calendar, DLF end of July, tutorial to be given there jk: I'll update the calendar with (eg, DCMI) https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/ARKs/Calendar+of+events rf: will talk to SI media person on how to do collaborative editing of youtube Tech WG Published spec version 39, pointing groups to the latest spec for implementation, retaining support for both old and new format with resolvers Will approach IETF RFC Editor with a simple proposal for a /.well-known/ark* convention to allow agents to learn if an ARK service exists at a given web domain and, if so, where it is Resolver upgrade estimated for one week out. jk: interested to hear which Open Source license will apply. (MIT?) A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) strawman spec for persistence statements has begun with a subgroup giving feedback. This goal would be for this to be in its own spec living under arks.org/specs, separate from the main ARK spec itself. mp: that seems a good approach NAAN WG 60 new orgs since 4/1, plus one new reserved shoulder on the shared NAAN 99999 Some reports that the new version of OJS is breaking some systems relying on the OJS plugin. Investigating, trying to contact the author Yasiel Perez. Requests from Lautaro Matas (LA Referencia) to consider allowing them bulk assignment, eg, give them a block of 100 unassigned NAANs, and they hand us back 100 (correctly formatted) NAAN records; we could, for example, start by trying 10 records and see how it works. | |
| Update on shared mailing list (action item from last meeting) | Kunze | Google group awaiting 4-5 pending members that google is having trouble adding (archival-resource-key-alliance/members). Will send out an announcement that reminds people who haven’t accepted to reach out. Will send a test message to confirm. |
| Discuss working with external organizational structure consultants | Phillips/Kunze | MP: Looking at opportunities to receive funding, JK and I have started to talk with various groups and consultants (OpenCollective, CLIR, Educopia, Invest in Open, Laure Haak, Lyrasis (long ago)). Moving beyond information gathering, our next steps would be to contract with one or more of these groups / consultants to be able to propose something more concrete and to get funding in place MP: UNT is more than happy to be the flow-through institution for funding on behalf of ARKA RF: definitely in favor of this, thanks UNT! I can easily see this level of engagement JK: yes to this |
| Plan ARKA Community Call | (All) | MP: I’d like to propose we do Community Call planning at our August AG meeting JK, RF: great idea |
| Action Item(s) | John K will copy in AG Minutes from Google docs into the Confluence wiki |
