- rw: just had Roots Tech in SLC, 30K in person Thurs-Sat (https://www.familysearch.org/en/rootstech/)
- rw: FS, Ancestry, and other genealogy companies have big presence there; they have an Archivists Day; it would be good place present to ARKs in future
- rw: it's very important to be able link to people persistently; we do some heroics sometimes for preservation; don't use a relational DB these days, more Cassandra db

| ARK metadata profile for basic use case | John |
- jk: some ARK implementers are looking for more prescriptive
- dv: use DataCite?
- cm: form is very complex
- jk: compatible with is more important, extensible,
- dv: few deprecations that I've seen, and minimal valid spec is quite small eg, articles, physical samples,
- cm: there were some breaking changes
- jk: compatible, extensible, minimal
- rw: we get pushback due to complexity; records we get can be quite simple to avoid cans of worms
- jk: propose future ARKA Tech focus is on mdata
- all: agreed
- dv: resolver could indicate what mdata schema is can be provided by a provider
- rw: i've found its really hard to get others to map to mine, easier for me to look at their mdata and figure it out
- dv: use case that comes to mind is Geoscience Australia, linked data with different formats advertized in link headers, which is very helpful for automated agents, eg, for ARKs just provide available formats
- rw: Accept headers
- dv: that's for format neg, not profile neg

| google site search of arks.org | John |
- dv: site search fix is hard without knowing the root causes; 1. check robots.txt can be tweaked to inform search engines; 2. look into deploying local site search with jekyll add-in
